Remembering the Declaration of Human Rights 12-11-04

In 1948,after World War II, a bunch of people who thought the world needed basic rights written down, got together and did just that. The local group asked me to sing a couple songs at the celebration of the anniversary.

AIUSA Local Group 78, Detroit
A small, unassuming, friendly, long-standing (since the late '70s) group
from many backgrounds, united in our desire to pool our efforts on human
rights. We meet every month on the third Monday (except December) at
Sacred
Heart Major Seminary, 2700 W. Chicago (at Linwood), at 7:30 p.m.
Meetings
last about an hour to 90 minutes. Usual attendance 6-10 persons, who
come
when they can to share human rights news and interests, to write letters
of
support/appeal on behalf of individuals and issues. No dues necessary.

Bring on K-9! (gig at McCarthy's)

The gig on November 27, 2004 gave Bruce a chance to reflect on his statement of purpose as a "political folk singer". Even now, the label seems odd but appropriate. I want to talk about wars and stuff. in kind of a smarmy way. and so, I do.

A long time ago, I started writing social and political commentary songs since. (I was first "inspired" by a threat to re-institute the draft in 1979.)

I attempt humor in most of my songs and I succeed some of the time.

'Bops and Gum' is a song from the album. Give it a listen by clicking on the title.

The CD (due out in 2005) is tentatively titled "Smarmy Political Pop, Girlsongs, and Pre-Adolescent Punk".
